Ottawa Showcases Artisans in the Glebe
The upcoming weeks welcome family, friends, and visitors to the Ottawa area with holiday markets and activities celebrating our diverse cultures, foods, faiths, and languages. Many times our diversity is expressed in the arts and crafts of local artisans in the Glebe. This upcoming weekend join Flex Properties as we welcome artisans and visitors to the area.
The 2023 Glebe Craft and Artisan Fair hosts many distinct and unique jewelry, home decor including pottery, glass, and woodworking. The woodworking pieces remind me of my grandfather who had a huge workshop where he spent many hours turning legs for tables and plant stands while telling me about the wood pieces he chose. I can still see his hands running over the large, smooth pieces of wood and how I would jump when the lathe came to life to fashion his ideas. These were the gifts he gave of himself to others. His creativity reimagined into pieces embracing diversity, function, and memories to connect generations of craftsmanship and future entrepreneurs. The artisans in the Glebe connect our diverse culture through their imaginations and interpretations of ideas through the mediums that call to them.
Many times I recall these memories as I walk through the beauty of the Glebe and the residents who call this area home. I can still remember the smell of pine shaving I played in and the feel of wood in my small finger tips. These experiences inspired my love of old houses being reimagined into family homes where creativity and function come together as memories and connections to future.
